The Coachella Music and Arts Festival

The Coachella music and arts festival officially kicked off on April 11, 2025, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, and will run until April 20. Celebrating its 24th edition, the event is headlined by big names such as Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone, and Travis Scott. With its signature blend of diverse music genres, surprise collaborations, and socially driven moments, Coachella continues to assert its role as a leading global cultural phenomenon.

One of the standout performances came from Charli XCX, who brought Billie Eilish, Lorde, and Troye Sivan on stage for a dynamic show. They performed reworked versions of “Guess” and “Girl, so confusing,” creating a powerful, emotional moment that resonated with the audience. Meanwhile, Lisa of BLACKPINK gave her debut solo performance, impressing the crowd with her live vocals and effectively putting an end to past lip-sync criticisms.

Coachella 2025 was full of unexpected appearances from renowned artists. Brian May of Queen teamed up with rising star Benson Boone for a rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” while Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day joined forces with The Go-Go’s for a unique generational collaboration. The energy surged even more during Three 6 Mafia’s set, which featured surprise appearances by MGK, Travis Barker, and Wiz Khalifa.

Beyond the music, this year’s festival also spotlighted key social issues. Senator Bernie Sanders made a surprise appearance to introduce Clairo and deliver a short speech on gender equality, climate change, and economic justice. Lady Gaga’s theatrical performance of “Poker Face,” presented with a dramatic chess motif, added a visually striking layer to the festival’s artistic narrative.

For those unable to attend in person, Coachella ensured fans could still experience the event through live streaming on official channels and YouTube. The festival's dedicated app also helped fans stay up to date with schedules and updates. As the second weekend (April 18–20) approaches, more surprises and memorable performances are still in store.

How Long does It Takes to Get to Space?

Advancements in rocket engineering have significantly reduced the time needed for space travel and made it more attainable. Reaching the Kármán Line—the defined edge of space located 100 kilometers above Earth—now takes only about 2 to 3 minutes with rockets like Blue Origin's New Shepard. This was demonstrated during its latest flight on April 14, 2025, which carried an all-female crew, including Katy Perry and Lauren Sánchez, on an 11-minute suborbital journey. Traveling to low Earth orbit, such as to the International Space Station (ISS) situated about 420 kilometers above Earth, can take anywhere from 4 hours to 3 days. The duration depends on the specific spacecraft and mission plan. For example, Russia’s Soyuz can dock with the ISS in approximately six hours, while other missions may take longer due to technical constraints or safety procedures. The velocity required to access space varies depending on the mission’s destination. To maintain orbit around Earth, a rocket must a...

IRS Reminds Taxpayers: Tax Filing Deadline Extension Until April 15, 2025

With the April 15, 2025 tax filing deadline nearing, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is reminding individuals that they have the option to request an extension to file their tax returns until October 15, 2025. However, this extension only applies to submitting the necessary paperwork—it does not delay the deadline for paying taxes owed. Taxpayers are still responsible for submitting their estimated tax payments by April 15 to steer clear of interest and penalties. The IRS offers three convenient ways to request a filing extension. Taxpayers can use the IRS Free File system, which is open to everyone regardless of income level; make an estimated tax payment online and indicate that the reason is an extension; or file Form 4868 either electronically or through regular mail. In each case, taxpayers must calculate how much tax they owe and make sure they pay it by the original due date. For Americans living abroad, including U.S. military personnel serving in combat zones, the IRS grant...
